Chinese rugs and carpets display patterns and colours found in other Chinese art as well as reproductions of Persian designs and other parts of the world.

The craft of rug weaving was probably introduced with the invasions from Mongolia. Most of the rugs are produced in the North of the country.

Quality ranges from coarse to very fine. Some of the silk pieces are difficult to tell apart from the Persian originals!
